Dear Greta,
You may already be aware of this research, but Norman Fairclough has done
quite a bit on language and discourse in late capitalist society. Some
examples that come to mind are the chapter "Critical discourse analysis and
the marketization of public discourse: the universities" in his 1995 book,
CRITICAL DISCOURSE ANALYSIS (New York: Longman Publishing); and also his
chapter "Discourse and social change" in his 1996 [1989] book, LANGUAGE AND
POWER (New York: Longman Publishing).
Another potentially useful resource is the Language in New Capitalism
group's website:

Best regards,
Adam

Subject: [Linganth] Discourses of corporate America in Academia
Can anyone suggest articles that do a good job of addressing the
growing encroachment (or should I say force-feeding) of the
discourses of the corporate world ("accountability, systems
management, students as clients, etc.") in academia? Particularly
interested in those that address it from a discourse analysis
perspective. Any articles that would be good for a non-specialist
crowd would also be of use.
Many thanks,
Greta
