interesting article and interesting comments too

Interesting article in NYT today about a charter school in Florida that 
proposes to teach an hour a day of Hebrew.

Most interesting of all, is the fact that so many of the readers 
commenting on the article are focused on issues of language, expressing 
a very wide range of ideological statements about the role of 
language(s) in education as well as in citizenship.  A nice opportunity 
to see what folks out there (at least NYT readers) think about language, 
culture, religion, and citizenship.  The comments are even more
