Description:
The Department of Anthropology, University of Alaska Fairbanks is accepting
applications for the position of linguistic anthropologist at the rank of
assistant or associate professor.
Candidates with both applied and strong theoretical interests are preferred.
Areas of interest include language ideology and politics, verbal art, and
orality and literacy. Experience with endangered languages and/or language
revitalization is a plus, especially with solid grounding in linguistic field
methods. Interest in conducting research in Alaska is a requirement for the
position, though prior experience is not required. The Department of
Anthropology graduate program has both MA and PhD tracks and teaching
responsibilities range from basic courses to advanced graduate seminars.
Evidence of teaching experience, publication record, and an active research
program are important selection criteria.
The application should include an outline of the candidate's research program
and teaching philosophy, CV, reprint(s) or other samples of work, and a list of
three references with addresses.
