question about food and talk

Hi everyone,
I have an undergraduate doing an independent study about Assyrians in Chicago, and the intergenerational transmission of "Assyrianness." She's finding interesting connections between people's beliefs about language, authenticity, and standardization, and their beliefs about food-- how it should be made, kept pure and authentic, transmitted or not.
Does anyone know of useful articles I can recommend that say anything linking food and language?
