Immediate Opening: Visiting Assistant Professor in Anthropological Linguistics
Pending final approval, the Department of Anthropology, University of South Florida, seeks to hire a
Visiting Assistant Professor to teach anthropological linguistics at the undergraduate and graduate levels for the 2009-2010 academic year. The successful applicant will have a Ph.D. in anthropology by time of appointment, with expertise in anthropological linguistics and a demonstrated interest in applied linguistic research in such areas as s health communication, education, or urban issues. The teaching load will be three classes per semester, to include introductory Anthropological Linguistics and upper level Language and Culture in the fall semester, and a graduate seminar on a topic in the field of language and communication in the Spring semester. Ability to teach ethnographic research methods at the undergraduate or graduate level an advantage. Salary (9 month) is $45,000 plus benefits. Starting date August 7, 2009.
