Dear Eric
I know you were looking for readings and academic studies of Latin
education in the US. I don't have any of those to offer directly, but I
remember that it struck me, when the Brooklyn Latin School was set up on
the model of the Boston Latin School in 2006, that the people interviewed
(the Headmaster / Principal, Jason Griffiths, I think) seemed to have a
real philosophy about it. Here are some links:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brooklyn_Latin_School
http://tinyurl.com/BrooklynLatin-NYT
(the second one is the _New York Times_ article on the opening, which is
where I got my idea that this wasn't just another school opening). So,
maybe you could contact the school / principal themselves and ask where
they got their philosophy from, and whether they can point you at any
readings or similar.
Good luck with what is a really interesting project!
Best wishes
Damien Hall
