The Department of Anthropology at the University of Virginia,
Charlottesville, VA,
invites applicants for a tenure-track, full-time Assistant Professor
position in Socio-
cultural Anthropology, appointment beginning August 25, 2011. Candidates
must have a
regional specialization in Japan, an ongoing program of research and
publication that
integrates in-depth ethnographic study with the advancement of theory, and
a
demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching. Preference will be given
to
qualified candidates who have an ability to talk across the sub-fields in
Anthropology, to
engage in interdisciplinary conversations across the University, and to
contribute, through
their research, teaching and service, to the diversity of the academic
community. Ph.D. is
required. ABDs will be considered if Ph.D. is in hand by August 15, 2011.
Review of
applications will begin immediately, and early submissions are strongly
encouraged.
Priority will be given to applications received by November 1, 2010 in
selecting
candidates to be interviewed at the AAA Meetings in New Orleans, November
17-21.
