Language maintenance in Melbourne?

Hi all,

A student of mine is interested in linguistic pluralism in Australian urban
centers, particularly Melbourne, and curious about whether immigrant groups
tended to maintain their heritage languages from generation to generation,
or whether you see a similar shift to monolingual English as in the U.S.  Is
anyone familiar with language maintenance in this area, or know of a good
reading I can pass on?
