University of Alaska Fairbanks, Department of Anthropology, seeks to
hire a linguistic anthropologist at the rank of assistant professor,
tenure track. We are particularly interested in candidates with both
applied and strong theoretical interests. Orality and literacy, verbal
art, language ideology and language politics are areas of interest. An
interest in working in Alaska is a plus, though prior experience is not
required. The appointment will be in the Department of Anthropology but
the successful candidate will teach courses that are offered in the
linguistics program. The Department of Anthropology at UAF has a small
but excellent graduate program with both MA and PhD tracks and teaching
will range from basic courses to advanced graduate seminars. Evidence of
teaching experience, publication record and an active research program
are important selection criteria. The application includes an outline of
the candidate's research program and teaching philosophy, cv, reprint(s)
or other samples(s) of work and a list of three references and their
addresses.
