Stuart Dunmore's blog post, "Gaelic-medium education outcomes in Scotland",
has been viewed more than 350 times in the past three months. The piece
presents historical information about Gaelic, sociolinguistic theory on
language revitalization, and current information about Gaelic language use
and education to SLA members, to non-member language scholars, and to
interested members of the general public. It also brings some well-deserved
attention to Dunmore's on-going dissertation research at the University of
Edinburgh concerning Gaelic language learners. If you haven't read it yet,
have a look.

You have an opportunity to bring similar attention to your (or your
students') work.
Guest posts of between 1,000 and 8,000 words describing current work in
linguistic anthropology and closely allied fields are requested. Of
particular interest are Ph.D. candidates' descriptions of their dissertation
research. Candidates who have recently defended a prospectus or presented a
dissertation are invited to prepare a brief description of their work for a
broad audience interested in linguistic anthropology. Other reflection or
synthesis of current work in the field is also welcome.
Readers of the blog include academic and practicing anthropologists,
students of linguistics, anthropology, and language, as well as
non-specialist readers. Guest entries should therefore be written with a
mixed specialist and non-specialist audience in mind. Where possible,
describe technical terms or recent theories in relatively accessible terms.
Please send guest posts or questions to nilep at ilas.nagoya-u.ac.jp. Include a
brief biographical description with guest posts, including your name,
affiliation, and major research focus.
