The Department of Anthropology at the University of Toronto, Mississauga 
invites applications for a tenure-stream position in Linguistic 
Anthropology at the rank of Assistant Professor level with an expected 
start date of July 1, 2013.

We seek candidates who have a strong record of research and teaching, 
and ability to teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, 
in any combination of subfields including but not limited to: Linguistic 
description and documentation, social interaction, language in social 
theory, foundations of human communication (ontogeny, phylogeny etc.). 
The preferred applicant will have an established program of research 
focusing on a language other than English (preferably a language not 
from the Germanic or Romance families). The successful candidate will 
have a PhD by the appointment start date and will be able to present 
evidence of excellence in research and teaching. The successful 
candidate will be expected to build an active, externally funded and 
internationally recognized research program.

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
