The Anthropology Department at Northern Arizona University invites applications for a full time, non-tenure track Lecturer position with an emphasis in sociocultural and linguistic anthropology, beginning August 2013. 

Position description: This non-tenure eligible regular faculty position is focused on our undergraduate liberal studies program and anthropology major. The position includes a 4/4 teaching load, with some flexibility for revised assignment to meet other departmental needs, including curriculum development, research (especially with undergraduates), and service duties. This academic year appointment is renewable, depending on performance, funding, and departmental needs.

Requirements of the position: A Ph.D. in Anthropology conferred by Aug. 1, 2013, and at least 1 year of teaching experience in undergraduate anthropology curricula.

Preferred qualifications: The successful candidate should have an educational background in sociocultural and linguistic anthropology with at least 1 year of teaching experience in undergraduate anthropology curricula, especially introductory level anthropology courses. Evidence of teaching excellence at the undergraduate level is highly desirable, as well as evidence of experience is conducting web-based courses to diverse students. Candidates are also encouraged to provide evidence of a research record that includes engagement of undergraduates in research experiences. Evidence of expertise in curriculum development and pedagogy is highly desirable. Preference will be given to candidates who provide evidence of success in working with diverse communities and populations.
