Dear Ling-anthers,

Please help keep Linguistic Anthropology prominent in AAA!  

Nominations for the 2014 AAA elections are open, including seats on the Executive Board and the Nominations Committee that are designated for linguistic anthropologists.  As the smallest of the subdisciplines, we should be lining up to make sure we continue to have equal representation with cultural, archeological, and biological anthropologists.  

Whether you're from a research university or a community college, whether you're at the starting gate or the finish line of your career, whether you're practicing or academic, you can use your insights, perspectives, and skills as a linguistic anthropologist to help AAA address matters of governance and policy where language really matters.
 
Nominations close Wednesday, October 2, so you have only five days to fill out the nomination application and get two letters of support.  (You have to be a member of AAA to run.)  Click here for instructions and links: http://www.aaanet.org/about/Elections/OverviewofProcess.cfm 

As Nominations Committee chair and also a member of SLA, I'd love to see nominations from ling-anthers come flying in over the next few days.
