The Department of Teaching and Learning seeks applications for a full-time tenure-track, nine-month faculty position with an emphasis in Dual Language/Bilingual Education at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank. The successful candidate will join a nationally and internationally recognized faculty whose research and scholarship is on the leading edge in language and literacy, as well as many other areas in teaching and learning. OSU’s College of Education and Human Ecology is ranked in the top 10 of public research universities, and Central Ohio offers many opportunities for conducting research with new and growing bilingual communities.
The Department offers a bilingual endorsement, and an emphasis in bilingualism/biliteracy at the PhD level.
The successful candidate will: 1) teach undergraduate and graduate courses, 2) attract and mentor students, and 3) publish research and develop grants to further scholarship in dual language/bilingual education. The expected start date is Fall 2017.
Required Qualifications:
1. Earned doctorate in education or related field, with an emphasis in dual language/bilingual education.
2. Evidence of a research trajectory related to dual language/bilingual education, including publication in refereed journals and research grants.
3. Evidence of bilingualism, including the ability to converse, write, interpret, and perform in a language other than English in a range of social and academic contexts.
4. Evidence of experience working in educational settings with children (birth through elementary) growing up in bilingual communities.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. University teaching experience in dual language/bilingual education programs.
2. Evidence of working for social justice, educational equity, and multilingualism in schools and other public settings.
3. Evidence of strong background in research methodology.
4. Extensive experience as a Spanish speaker and bilingual use of Spanish and English.
5. Interest in promoting dual language/bilingual education locally, regionally, and/or nationally
