*LMB 2017*
*Language, Mobility and Belonging*
*Linguistic Anthropology Conference*
*University of Oxford*
*March 23-25th 2017*
What is the role played by language in the conceptualisation and regulation
of belonging in contexts of migration and global movement? Do we still
belong to speech communities? How do migration and increased global

call into question existing structures of socioeconomic mobility? In four
panels of presentations, we will explore linguistic practices and
discourses circulating in communities all over the world from Saipan to
Canada; Iceland to South Africa.
