The College of Social and Behavioral Sciences (SBS; www.sbs.arizona.edu) and the Center for Latin America Studies (LAS; www.las.arizona.edu) at The University of Arizona (www.arizona.edu) invite applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor position, with an expected start date of August 12, 2019. We are seeking applications from candidates with expertise in Health and Medicine in Latin America. The disciplinary field is open, with a strong preference in Anthropology, History, Sociology, Geography, Public Policy, Public Health or related field.

While all candidates with appropriate expertise will be considered, we are particularly interested in scholars with experience in cross-border settings that may include trans-border health issues; health and migration; transnational disease; health, environment and extractive industries; and/or gender, violence, and trauma. A commitment to Latin American research and teaching is required.

This position arises through the successful award of Title VI status to LAS in SBS. As a Comprehensive National Resource Center, LAS maintains a strong research and outreach mission with coordinating responsibilities across the University of Arizona. The successful candidate will be expected to be an active member of the LAS faculty and contribute in building a network of interdisciplinary scholars working on health issues across Latin America, creating opportunities for innovative research and collaboration.
