Hello colleagues!
I work in the biodiversity and ecology realm and I'm looking for someone
who has expertise in history, anthropology, archaeology, or some other
discipline that studies humans and cultures of the past for a collaborative
project looking at human history through the lens of biodiversity
knowledge.
I would like to write a book that tells the story of world history through
the lens of biodiversity discovery. I was inspired to do this by retracing
the taxonomic history of a group of organisms and realizing that all the
old texts and specimens I was looking at was telling a bigger story. Of
course, the practice of taxonomy as we know it today is a very European way
of doing things, so I also wanted to include other ways of recording
biodiversity that could tell the story of indigenous people, for example. I
can bring a lot of the science to the table. I need a collaborator who can
approach the story from the perspective of these other cultures.
Thoughts? Reply to me if you would like to know more!
