The Language and Social Justice Committee
<http://linguisticanthropology.org/socialjustice/> is a standing committee
of the Society for Linguistic Anthropology that seeks to raise awareness
and work to change the ways language participates in social injustice.


The committee has three new roles to fill for next year (see the two calls
below). Please send in your expressions of interest!



CALL 1: Core committee members

The Language and Social Justice (LSJ) Committee is seeking two new members
to join the core committee starting for terms which begin in January 2020.
The LSJ is a standing committee of the Society for Linguistic Anthropology
dedicated to increasing awareness of and responding to language-related
injustice. Core members work to organize the efforts of committee members
and serve three-year terms to provide a strong institutional memory in the
core group. New

core committee members will become co-chairs in their third year on the
core committee. If you are interested, please send a short email to current
co-chairs Lynnette Arnold (larnold at umass.edu) and Judy Pine (
judy.pine at wwu.edu) by December 6.





CALL 2: Graduate student social media coordinator

The Language and Social Justice Committee is looking for a graduate student
to fill the stipended LSJ Social Media Coordinator Position. The Social
Media Coordinator works on LSJ’s social media presence, specifically our
twitter and facebook accounts. We are looking to increase LSJ’s public
presence, to share ongoing work, and to help educate the larger public
about the relationship between language and social justice. If interested,
please review the attached requirements and responsibilities document. Then
send a brief statement of interest to Suzanne Garcia-Mateus with the
subject title “LSJ Social Media Coordinator Position” (sgmateus at csumb.edu) by
December 6.
