There is also a relatively short, accessible article by Anne Heimo & Kaarina Koski "Internet Memes as Statements and Entertainment" in FF Network 44 (2014), available at:

      Kind regards,

Subject: [Linganth] seeking work on memes and gifs

Dear fellow linganths,

I am teaching an introductory linguistic anthropology course this semester, for which my students are conducting some of their own research. A few students are working on memes as a feature of communication. Does anyone have any references of work by linguistic anthropologists or related scholars on the use of memes, including gifs?

Thanks,
Kathe
