The application portal is now open for the Georgia State University
Department of Anthropology’s field school in medical and linguistic
anthropology, “Communication, Culture, and Global Health Challenges:
Lessons from Costa Rica.”
Led by Dr. Steven P. Black
<https://anthropology.gsu.edu/profile/steven-black/> in collaboration with
the Organization for Tropical Studies <https://tropicalstudies.org/>, this
3-week program provides students with:
- Hands-on practice with qualitative research methods
- Cultural competency training through first-hand experience
- knowledge about the structure of a socialized medical system and its
limits in the context of socio-economic inequities
- Interaction with some of Costa Rica’s global health luminaries
The cost of the program, all-expenses (even airfare) included, is $4,000,
plus GSU tuition and fees. The program IS open to non-GSU students. The
application deadline is February 1, 2019.
