Call for papers on race, racism, and racialization: Journal of Linguistic
Anthropology
Responses to the murder of George Floyd have renewed attention to the
precariousness and resilience of black lives, structures of white
supremacy, and coalition building across forms of marked subjectivities.
The Journal of Linguistic Anthropology encourages scholars whose work
engages race, racism, and/or racialization to submit work for timely review
and publication. Submission type is open, including full-length article
manuscripts, shorter theoretical pieces, notes from fieldwork, interviews,
commentaries/reflections on the field, or artwork/poetry/cartoons.
Scholarly work intersecting other approaches, including criminal justice
studies, critical race theory, cultural anthropology, education studies, gender
studies, legal studies, medical anthropology, political anthropology,
science and technology studies, sexuality studies, sociolinguistics, queer
theory, and visual anthropology, among others, is especially encouraged.
The goal is to have accepted work published in the December issue of volume
30 (2020).
There are three ways in which you can participate in this endeavor:
1) If you are interested in submitting your work, please familiarize
yourself with the journal’s submission procedures (
http://linguisticanthropology.org/journal/). Please write to Sonia Das (
sonia.das at nyu.edu) and/or Chaise LaDousa (cladousa at hamilton.edu) with
questions or expressions of interest.
2) If you are interested in writing a book review of a book pertaining to
race, racism, and racialization, please write to JLA’s book review editor,
Christina Davis (c-davis at wiu.edu).
3) Finally, if you want to support this endeavor by serving as a reviewer
for article manuscripts, please write to Sonia Das (sonia.das at nyu.edu) and
/or Chaise LaDousa(cladousa at hamilton.edu). The co-editors and authors
would be especially grateful for your participation via review.
The deadline for the submission of article manuscripts is September 15,
2020 and the deadline for other types of submissions is October 15, 2020.
