Dear Colleagues,
The Language and Social Justice (LSJ) Committee is seeking *two new members*
to join the core committee for the three-year term starting in January
2022. The LSJ is a standing committee of the Society for Linguistic
Anthropology dedicated to increasing awareness of and responding to
language-related injustice. Core members work to organize the efforts of
committee members and serve three-year terms to provide a strong
institutional memory in the core group. New core committee members will
become co-chairs in their third year on the core committee.
If you are interested, please send a short email (300 words) expressing
your interest to current co-chairs Jena Barchas-Lichtenstein (
jenabl at knology.org) or Suzanne García-Mateus (sgarciamateus at csumb.edu)
by *November
29, 2021*. In your statement of interest, please include what issues you
are particularly interested in, and what experience you have in advocating
for language-related injustices.
We encourage BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, & (other) people of color) scholars
to apply. We also encourage applicants at all career stages and with any or
no institutional affiliation.
Please feel free to share this call with colleagues who you think might be
interested.
