Pre-conference SLA 2022 events begin TODAY! It’s not too late to register for the virtual and inperson tracks of SLA 2022, to be held in Boulder and on Gather. Join 500+ presenters for this much anticipated linguistic anthropology conference. Please join us TODAY, Wednesday, April 6, for the following preconference events. The two inperson events below will be livestreamed to Gather.
1. Preconference Gather Keynote, 2-4 pm MT: “Signs of Life: A Raciosemiotic Look at the Meaning and Matter(ing) of Black Life,” featuring Krystal A. Smalls.
2. Preconference Plenary, 4-6 pm MT: “Global Intersections of Language, Caste, and Race: A Case Study of Generation Z at the Spelling Bee,” featuring Shalini Shankar.
3. Preconference Symposium, 7-9 pm MT: “Language of Racism,” featuring John Baugh, Elaine Chun, Christina Leza, Norma Mendoza-Denton, and Jacqueline Messing.
The conference officially begins April 7 and features additional keynotes by Leticia Cesarino, Michel DeGraff, Angela Reyes, Virginia Zavala, and the CLASP graduate student paper prize winner Kuo Zhang.
