Please see the below message from SLA president Bernard Perley:
Dear SLA members, colleagues, and friends,
Happy Gregorian Calendar New Year! I hope you and your loved ones enjoyed a joyful and healthy holiday.
As we replace the 2022 calendars with 2023 calendars and look ahead to the coming year, I want to remind you to think about nominating colleagues or yourselves for the open positions on the SLA Board and Extended Board. We are going to have exciting conversations about SLA futures and I would love to hear your ideas as a Board member. Again, the open positions are-
Appointed positions:
SLA Section News Co-Editor for Anthropology News
SLA Digital Media Director (Jan. 2023)
SLA Program Committee Members (Jan 2023) (4-5 positions - graduate students and early career scholars encouraged to apply)
Elected positions:
President-Elect (Nov. 2023)
Secretary-Treasurer (Nov. 2023)
Member-at-Large (Nov. 2023)
If you are interested in nominating a colleague or yourself, please contact any of the members of the Nominations Committee: Georgia Ennis (gennis at wcu.edu<mailto:gennis at wcu.edu>), Jocelyn Ahlers (jahlers at csusm.edu<mailto:jahlers at csusm.edu>), or Britta Ingebretson (bingebretson at fordham.edu<mailto:bingebretson at fordham.edu>). Expressions of interest are due by January 8, 2023. Please include your CV and a brief statement about why you are interested in the position.
Also, don't forget about the student paper prizes- https://www.linguisticanthropology.org/blog/2022/11/21/reminder-annual-student-essay-prizes/ Let's celebrate the excellent work our students are doing in linguistic anthropology research. Those submissions are due January 15.
