Dear Linguapax members,

this is to remind you that, on the occasion of International Mother Language Day, we will celebrate two very important event:

19 February, at 6 pm, at the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (C. Montalegre, 5)
Linguapax International Award
The 2023 Linguapax Award went to Uyghur academic and activist Abduweli Ayup. On the occasion of the award ceremony, we will screen the documentary All Static and Silence, about the struggle of the Uyghur people to defend their language.
Next, a round table will take place with the participation of the winner, Abduweli Ayup, the Uyghur language expert Joanne N. Smith Finley (University of Newcastle) and Manel Ollé (Pompeu Fabra University), an expert in cultural contacts between Europe and China.
This will be a presential event and no streaming is available.

February 20, at 6 p.m., at the Institute of Catalan Studies (Casa de Convalescència, C. Carme 47 in Barcelona, Sala Pi i Sunyer).
Presentation of the Linguapax Review 2023: "Heritage Languages and the well-being of speakers"
with the participation of Justyna Olko, from Warsaw University, Alexander Andrason, University of Cape Town, coordinators of the publication, and other authors, and of Xavier Vila, Secretary of Language Policy of the Government of Catalonia.
