Dear Colleagues,

We are excited to announce that preparations are underway for launching
Talking Politics 2024! We are currently seeking enthusiastic, imaginative,
and engaged individuals to join our organizing team.

Now in its third iteration, Talking Politics aims to create a
cross-institutional, interdisciplinary, and publicly accessible platform
for reimagining political engagement beyond traditional left-right
binaries. By showcasing how various disciplines analyze different types of
data to draw meaningful conclusions, we strive to provide a space where
diverse audiences can engage with evidence-based tools and methods for
understanding today’s political landscape. Together, we hope to foster
deeper, more nuanced discussions about the structure of political events
and the role of language, media, and messages in public life.

Talking Politics 2024 will focus on the upcoming 2024 US Presidential
Election, featuring a series of online workshops, watch parties, and other
innovative formats. Synchronous events in the series will run from
September–December 2024, with additional asynchronous components as well as
a final, culminating event in May 2025.

This year's event is co-organized by students and faculty at The University
of Chicago and Brown University and the CLASP (Culture, Language, and
Social Practice) program at CU Boulder. We are currently seeking
enthusiastic individuals from various universities and departments to join
our organizing team and help build Talking Politics 2024.

Core team members will take an active role in event planning, outreach and
promotion, and website and content development. They will also be included
in peer-reviewed publishing and media-production efforts that the team will
co-lead, both during the series and after its conclusion. Our estimated
time commitment is as follows: 15 hours/month (Jul to Sep 2024), 8
hours/month (Sep to Dec 2025), and 4 hours/month (Jan to May 2025). Please

about political engagement and eager to help steer Talking Politics2024, we
would love to hear from you!
