Dear all,

Welcome back to a new academic year! I am happy to be co-coordinating
the ELAN Online Workshop with Chelsie André this year. We had a really
productive set of meetings last year and look forward to a new round of
readings and discussions.

The ELAN Online Workshop facilitates monthly meetings for ELAN members
to  share pre-circulated works in progress with like-minded colleagues
from across Europe and beyond. Over the past few years, numerous
scholars shared their research and received friendly, constructive
feedback. The workshop has become a fruitful event where ELAN members
exchange insights, inspiration, encouragement and practical tips.

The signup sheet for this for academic year is now live, with dates for
the whole academic year to encourage early participation. Please use
this document to sign up for sessions:

The workshop meets approximately once a month on *Thursdays 12.15-13.45
pm (UTC) on Zoom*, unless noted otherwise.

Like last year, we will have two possible formats for this year’s meetings:

 1. *Works-in-progress:* members can share an article-length piece of
writing to be pre-circulated through the ELAN listserv 2 weeks prior
to the presentation date. We will start with a short (5-10 minute)
presentation by the paper author. This will be followed by short
discussant comments (5-10 minutes) and a general discussion. All
participants are asked to read the pre-circulated texts in advance.

 2. *Reading Group:* members can suggest an article or a book to read
and discuss together. Each reading group meeting will have one
coordinator, who invites each participant to talk about their
thoughts on the text (2 - 5 minutes) in the beginning of the
meeting, and then leads the open discussion.

Again, please sign up to share some of your writing or suggest readings
at:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1nzvZi_QZ7BbLg4NP1Sc4bYr4_lYyMCxn_PMTn2GWD7Y/edit?usp=sharing

We will send an invitation and zoom link for the first session on
October 10 out soon. If you're interested in going first, please let us
know!

I very much look forward to seeing you next week, and throughout the year!

Best wishes,

Anna & Chelsie
