The Department of Anthropology at the University of North Carolina at
Charlotte is recruiting for a tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin in
August 2025. We seek a biological anthropologist conducting research at the
intersection of human biology and health. The ideal candidate will bring a
broad foundation in anthropology to the study of connections between
behavior, health, biology, and environment. Topics might include—but are
not limited to—nutrition, reproduction, growth and development, chronic or
infectious diseases, microbiomes, language development, or other areas. We
welcome candidates who work closely with community groups and/or have an
applied focus. Preference will be given to candidates who have or can
develop research projects based in Charlotte, North Carolina, or the
Southeastern United States.
Job responsibilities include teaching a four-field introductory
anthropology course, an introduction to biological anthropology course with
a laboratory component that satisfies the university’s general education
requirements for laboratory science, and undergraduate and graduate
electives. The teaching load is two courses per semester. We are
particularly interested in candidates who can support our innovative 3-year
dual degree (MA/MPH) with Public Health Sciences.
