Hi everyone,

I wanted to share news about a new role we are hiring for at the Script
Encoding Initiative <https://linguistics.berkeley.edu/sei/> (SEI).

As background, SEI is a research project housed within the Linguistics
Department at the University of California, Berkeley. Our work sits right
at the interface of language, technology, and society. We produce research
reports on the status of historic and minority writing systems and work
closely with technical standards bodies, such as the Unicode Consortium, to
help these lesser-used scripts gain a digital footing. We also study the
history and politics of script digitization processes.

Over time, our caseload and scope of research has grown tremendously, so we
are looking to expand our team and hire a Program Manage to help coordinate
our projects.

This position is part time (18 hrs/week), comes with benefits, and can be
done remotely with occasional travel to Berkeley's campus.

The full list of responsibilities and qualifications is available on the
job posting. See here for more details.

We'll begin review of applications on February 28, 2025. Please don't
hesitate to reach out to me with any questions about the role or the
organization, and do pass this on to anyone who might be interested!

All the best,

Anushah
