Dear colleagues in linguistic anthropology,

I hope each of you is having a good semester, despite the challenges of our current moment.

I write you in my capacity as the new Programming Chair for the SLA. I also wish to add a note of appreciation for the work of our outgoing Programming Chair, Professor Sandhya Narayanan, who has so ably mediated our comings-together at the AAA over these past few years.

Though significant time remains to pull together our regular panels, I wanted to remind you that the call for executive panels will be closed tonight, February 27 at 11:59 EST

Notes related to Executive Panel Submissions:

  * Executive submissions are directly related to the 2025 Annual Meeting theme, Ghosts<https://annualmeeting.americananthro.org/theme/>.
  * Please remain attentive to the number of roles that you might play over the course of the conference.
  * Eligible submissions will provide statement about how the submission has incorporated the goals of equity, diversity of session participants, such as organizational/institutional affiliation, career stage, race, ethnicity, disability, sexuality, class, religion, national identity, and gender.
  * Proposals for Executive Sessions that demonstrated a commitment to equity and inclusion and/or a clear analysis of power (i.e. anti-imperialist, anti-white supremacist, decolonial, anti-ableist, feminist, anti-transphobic, anti-xenophobic, etc.) are given priority.
  * Selection for Executive submissions is highly competitive and only a limited number of submissions will be accepted.
  * The accept/decline notifications will be sent the week of March 31st.
  * If the executive submission is not accepted, submitters have the option to resubmit their session to the General Call for Participation.
  * You may find additional information here: https://annualmeeting.americananthro.org/executive-call/
I will be in touch with additional information as the general call for AAA submissions is announced in the coming weeks.
All very best, and take care,
Andrew Carruthers
