Hi all,

I have a senior Anthropology major (linganth focus) who is developing a shorthand as a part of their senior project. They are currently trying to use the Corpus of Contemporary American English (COCA) as a tool for this, trying to identify around the top 5,000 words in the corpus so they can then identify the most common sounds used. They have figured out the basics of how to use the corpus, but when searching most common words found, the result provided is the lemma rather than all of the possible forms of the word. So they are not getting all of the exact forms needed to identify the most common sounds.

Anyone here familiar enough with COCA to offer some guidance to my advisee? Thanks for any assistance you may be able to offer!

All best,
Christina
