Dear SLA members,

I’m writing to announce a change in how we conduct our yearly business meetings. Except for a couple covid-impacted years, these have traditionally been held in person during the AAA, in conjunction with our reception and cash bar. Hopefully you have noticed that we have expanded our Extended Board significantly over the last few years, in response to members’ feedback, which means that we have lots of activities and news to share. Wanting to give our Extended Board members’ work the time and attention each deserve, we decided to have 2 business meetings this year:

One online a week before the AAA, where most of the reports of our various activities will be given, followed by time for discussion (Nov. 12, 3:00-4:30 ET).
One in person at the AAA, with awards, announcements, celebration, and discussion, followed by the reception and cash bar (Nov. 19, 8:00-10:30).

We hope that breaking things up this way will allow us to share all the important work that our fabulous Extended Board has been doing over the last year, but also maximize the possibilities of in-person communications.

If you need ASL interpretation or other support during either Business Meeting, please let us know by Nov. 2 (you can reach out to me directly or our accessibility coordinator, Steven Black sblack at gsu.edu<mailto:sblack at gsu.edu>).

We'll be sending out more information about both meetings closer to the respective dates.

In the meantime, please save the dates and we look forward to seeing you at either or both meetings!

Jillian
