Subject: 3.43% Donate
Dear All,
Oddly, given we are all engaged in studying language one way or other -
the 3.43% really bring home the story of the tiny percentage of
LinguistList subscribers who donate to keep it going. That percentage
should absolutely be much larger and now, at the last hours of the
Advisors' Challenge, is the time to raise the percentage by donating.
Thank you, not just for listening, but for acting!

Subject: It is Crunch Time!
Dear Subscribers,
Ok folks it's crunch time. What Linguistlist service shall we do without
for the next year?
How about job announcents? Linguists don't really need jobs; we can live
on words alone.
Book announcements? We know everything already; we don't need to read
anything new.
Same with reviews; who needs them? They only tell you what's in a book
and how relevant it might be for your own work.
Calls and conferences? We don't need no stinking conferences. You might
meet someone at a conference whose work might be of interest to your own
and that would make you think. Linguists don't need to think.
$65,000 is a paltry sum considering how many grad students it supports
and the wealth of information it provides. It's up to you: if you
benefit from LingiistList, put your Money where your mouth is. We have
and now it's your turn.

To Linguistic publishing house employees,
The Linguist List helps you right in the paycheck. Consider it's
precision in delivering your message.
It's time to -- to use a word I first heard from a linguistics editor --
re-behold your relationship with Linguist List. It is your necessity.
It's time to show that with a contribution.
Donate now!
