Subject: Will Kate be Funded?
Dear Subscribers,
Meet Kate Wu. She is one of our grad sctudents who is supported
by your donations. She is the editor in charge of the Calls &
Confs area. She has a busy life here at LINGUIST.
Kate received, edits, approves and announces many Calls for papers
and Conference submissions a day. She takes care of all the
correspondence with the submitters and also with any user who has
any questions regarding the Calls & Confs area.
As an example, Kate has edited and announced 9 conferences and
23 calls for papers in the last three days!
She has posted 49 Conference announcements this year so far!
Without your support, the Calls & Confs area would not have
an editor to do this work. Where would you go to get this
information?
Help us get Kate funded for another year, as well as the Call
& Confs area that you have learned to rely on for years now!

Subject: Do You Want to Hear the New Fund Drive Song?
Dear Subscribers,
Are you ready for some entertainment? Would you like to
listen to the new Fund Drive song? We need your help!
Susan Fischer and Terry Langendoen have written and
performed the new Fund Drive song. They took their time,
efforts, and musical skills to come up with a new song
for all of us!
But they are challenging us all in order to make it
public! The song will be available on the LINGUIST
homepage once donations reach the $45K mark!
Right now, the total amount raised is $40,806. We need
$4,194 in order to make this song available!
Donate now!

Subject: New Linguist of the Day!
Dear Subscribers,
We have a new linguist of the day!
Professor C.T. James Huang from Harvard University is sharing his
amazing story on how he got into Linguistics.
He came from a small village in Taiwan ("the last place on the map
anyone would think of"). He read books while riding on the back
of the family's buffalo while doing his daily chores. He flunked
all his first year high school subject due to his passion for a
school literary magazine he produced. His father helped him get
back on track and guided him into a life of learning.
Read his story at:

Please donate now to ensure that more students get to the point
when they can share their own stories.
