Dear Subscribers,
We just passed the $41000 mark and we are getting into the
last stages of Fund Drive. We are, of course, very happy to
reach this stage cause it means we are getting closer
and closer each day to the goal
However, we are still in need of a lot of your donations!
We have some more prizes for you to encourage those
waiting for a nudge to submit their donations.
Multilingual Matters Publishing Company is offering
3 books as prizes for the next three people to donate
$50 or more.
Hurry and donate now!

Subject: Skip the Coffee, Donate to LINGUIST!
Dear Subscribers,
We need your help now! We need your donations.
I know that we always tell you how many things
we do to contribute to the discipline and how
many things we have done in the previous year
to make LINGUIST better. And we also tell you
how each and every one of your contributions are
essential to our continuing providing all of
this for free.
All that is true. It is also true that many
of you can spare some money to support this
endevour. Probably several of you had dinner
out this weekend or bought yourselved a coffee
or capuccino at a coffee store. How about
renting some movies or purchasing some books
on amazon?
We do not ask you to send us your whole
paycheck in order to support LINGUIST. But we
do want to point out that if you donate to
LINGUIST this week instead of the expensive
coffee or extra movies or lunch at a restaurant,
we can make our goal sooner!
Donate now and feel better (the same way you
would feel after a delicious coffee!).

Subject: Your Contribution Will Help Us
Dear Subscribers,
My name is Li Zheng. I came from Shanghai, China and have been
part of the LINGUIST team over past four years. I really appreciate
LINGUIST LIST giving me this job opportunity since the economy of
Michigan is very bad. Right now I can get a lot of great experiences
in various projects.
Please support the work our staff does by donating today:
https://linguistlist.org/donation/donate/donate1.cfm
As a programmer for LINGUIST, I am been involved in several projects,
focusing primarily on is the LEGO and LSA projects. For LEGO, we will
upload 17 lexicons and 300 wordlists into our system. Then the user
can search all the data in these lexicons and wordlists through our
search facility. For LSA, I developed a multivariate search facility
for the Linguistic Society of America, so that the LSA staff can search
any data in any LSA table. This will help them to save a lot of time
to get the information they want. Also I help to maintain all Publication,
Job, Call/Conf and Easyabs pages for the web site.
LINGUIST is non-profit organization; it provides free services for
the linguistic community. However, without your donation we can not
maintain our free service. Your contribution will help us to continue
working another year and provide more services for linguists.
Please help us to donate at:

Thanks again for your continued support and donations,
Yours sincerely,
Li (Lily) Zheng

Subject: We Rely on Donations from Subscribers
Dear Subscribers,
In May of 2009, I arrived in Michigan ready to start an internship
with The LINGUIST List. Within just a few days, I knew that I wanted
to stay and continue to work here for as long as possible, and applied
to be a graduate assistant. I started my Masters in Linguistics that
fall, and have had the joy of studying and working for an organization
whose greatest aim is to contribute to the discipline.
Please donate today to help fund students as they build and maintain
the services of The LINGUIST List:

>From my very first day, I have been a member of the LL-MAP team, and
now have the pleasure of serving as one of the two team leaders. I
have spent a lot of time mapping languages and families in Africa and
North America, and I have learned so much from this project that it is
difficult to summarize! It has exposed me to languages and peoples,
along with regions of the world, that I may not have otherwise had the
opportunity to study. More importantly however, it has given me the
tools I need to adapt (more) sources and do further research which in
turn yields new resources which we make publicly available through the
project website.
Along with working on the LL-MAP team, I am one of the editors of the
Jobs submissions on the LINGUIST List. This service allows companies
and universities to advertise positions they are looking to fill through
our listserv and on our website. Our job listings represent one of the
most comprehensive sources for linguistically-related employment positions
on the internet, and has proven to be an invaluable resource for the
discipline.
Here at LINGUIST, we rely on donations from subscribers to fund students.
Your donations allow us to keep working and develop new tools for the
linguistic community. Now more than ever, we need your help.
Please consider donating today. Whether you can donate $5 or $50, it
is worth it!

Erin Smith
