internally headed relative clauses

I just want to mention that I sent a longer message yesterday to Wolfgang
expressing similar surprise by his attributing the notion of
internally-headed relative clause to formalists and that I agree with Nigel
Vincent that the notion of internally-headed relative clause (though a
highly misleading label, I think) is primarily associated with typological
and descriptive work and NOT with formalist work.
