Dear LinguistList members, in the language sound chain there are vowels and sonorant consonants.
The total of the frequency of occurrence of vowels and sonorant consonants in the sound speech chain allows us to judge if this or that language sounds melodically (musically). Do you know any correct English term for this total? Can one call this total - "the vocalo-sonorant quotient" of the text? Looking forward to hearing your variants to yutamb at mail.ru Remain yours sincerely Yuri Tambovtsev
