Reminder: deadline for abstracts - Paris IACL-17 January 16, 2009

 Dear ALT colleagues,

This is a brief reminder regarding the deadline for abstracts for IACL-17
(17th conference of the International Association of Chinese Linguistics)
which is:

midnight 24:00  Paris time  (GMT +1) on

*FRIDAY 16 JANUARY 2009.*

The details regarding requirements for the abstracts and eligibility as well
as the necessary information on the conference can be found on our bilingual
website: *crlao.ehess.fr ( <http://crlao.ehess.fr/>*English and Mandarin are
the two conference languages)*.

*We are hoping very much to see a broad field of scholars working in Chinese
linguistics or on the languages of China (Sino-Tibetan, Tai, Hmong-Mien,
Austroasiatic, Austronesian and Altaic) at IACL-17 which will be held in
Paris from 2-4 July 2009

We are particularly delighted to announce that *Anna Siewierska,* our ALT
President, will be one of the keynote speakers, along with *Thomas Hun-tak
Lee*, a specialist in language acquisition universals (Chinese University of
Hong Kong) and *Cao Guangshun*, a specialist in Chinese diachronic
linguistics (Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Beijing).

The two special invited speakers who will address topics in
interdisciplinary research are *James C.-T. Huang* (Harvard University) and
*William S.-Y. Wang* (Chinese University of Hong Kong).

Meeting Description:

The 17th Annual Conference of the International Association of Chinese
Linguistics (IACL-17) will be hosted by CRLAO (Centre de recherches
linguistiques sur l'Asie Orientale) and held at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes
en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in Paris from 2nd - 4th July, 2009. All
scholars and students carrying out research in the broad area of Chinese
linguistics and the languages of China are cordially invited to submit
abstracts for this conference.


Date and Venue : The conference will be held from Thursday 2nd July to
Saturday 4th July, 2009 and will entail 3 days of scholarly presentations
and associated workshops. The conference will be located at 105, boulevard
Raspail, 75006, Paris, academic buildings which belong to the EHESS research
institute.
