Dear Typologists,

In Mongsen Ao, 'understand' is expressed by the verb root 'hear' suffixed by
the abilitative modality marker (see p.149 and pp.329-330  for examples).
Some other verbs of cognition appear to express related lexicalised meanings
when suffixed by the abilitive marker, e.g. 'think-ABIL' results in a
meaning of 'realise'.
