Dear ALT members,

At the conference in Hong Kong, ALT will present its second Panini Award
for a grammar passed as a dissertation between 2007 and 2010. In view of
the large number of submissions, the jury has decided to present two
awards. The award winners are:

Mark Post of James Cook University (Australia), who will receive the
award for A Grammar of Galo (La Trobe University, 2007)

Antoinette Schapper of Leiden University (The Netherlands), who will
receive the award for Bunaq. A Papuan Language of Central Timor
(Australian National University, 2009).

In addition, honorable mentions go to the following grammars:
- Kofi Yakpo. A grammar of Pichi (Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen, 2009) -
Seino van Breugel. A grammar of Atong (La Trobe University, 2008)
- René Lacroix. Description du dialecte laze d’Arhavi (caucasique du
sud, Turquie). Grammaire et textes (Université Lyon-2, 2009)
- Rosa Vallejos Yopán. A grammar of Kokama-Kokamilla (University of
Oregon, 2010)
- Claudia Wegener. A grammar of Savosavo, a Papuan language of the
Solomon islands (Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen, 2008)

The jury of the Greenberg Award has decided to postpone the award to
2013, because of the small number of valid submissions for the 2011 round.

We are very grateful to Keren Rice and Isabelle Bril, who chaired the
Panini and Greenberg juries, and to the members of the juries, for all
the work they put into reading and evaluating the entries. Jury reports
will follow in the next issue of ALT News.

With best wishes,

Anna Siewierska (president)
J-C Verstraete (secretary-treasurer)
