Job: postdoc in cross-linguistic research, U. Zurich/Switzerland

The General Linguistics Department at the University of Zurich invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher position. The field of specialization is in statistical approaches to areal/historical and/or corpus-based typology (in the broadest sense, including also for example cross-linguistic research in language acquisition or anthropological linguistics). The regional focus is open, but work on the Americas, on Eurasia or on a global scale is particularly welcome. The successful candidate is expected to develop his or her own research agenda in close collaboration with other members of the department and the wider linguistics community in Zurich, and possibly extending to colleagues in other fields. 

Applicants must have completed a Ph.D. thesis in linguistics, should be familiar with typological research and quantitative methods and should have an excellent command of (academic) English. (Fluency in German is desirable but not necessary).

Terms of employment: the position is initially offered for one year, but can be extended beyond this. The position also includes teaching obligations between 2 and 4 hours per week. (The exact extent and terms can be negotiated.)
