English monomorphemic and polymorphemic words

Dear All,

I was wondering whether anyone was aware of any systemic study of the
number of English monomorphemic and polymorphemic words. That is, any
systematic and comprehensive investigation into whether English has more
monomorphemic words or more polymorphemic words?

Any pointer would be very much appreciated.
