In the light of the recent interesting and thought-provoking exchanges on this list concerning language specific vs. comparative/general categories and presentation standards, members’ attention might be called to the upcoming Workshop on the Development of Linguistic Linked Open Data (LLOD) Resources for Collaborative Data Intensive Research to be held in California later this month. It might be of interest in that connection, since such collaborative research inevitably involves such concern with general vs, specific and shared categories across researchers.
The workshop will be held in conjunction with the Linguistic Society of America 2015 Summer Institute themed “Linguistic Theory in a World of Big Data”. The description of the workshop and the program may be accessed on the link below. Attendance is open and free, though preregistration is required. The time before the workshop dates of July 25 and 26 2015 is unfortunately short, but it is expected that the proceedings will be made available some time after its conclusion, and the program linked below will give an indication of its range.
