The Johannes Gutenberg University (JGU) Mainz, Germany, Faculty 05 - Philosophy and Philology -, Department of Slavic Languages, Turkology and Circum-Baltic Studies, invites applications for a



W2-Professorship in Turkologic Linguistics



Applicants are expected to adequately represent the spectrum of Turkologic linguistics in research and teaching. The successful candidate is further expected to have a relevant doctoral degree, an outstanding research record and teaching achievements. Besides very good command of Republican Turkish, applicants need good knowledge of at least one further Turkic language. Sufficient German language skills are required. International experience as well as experience with applications for external funding and in networking with other linguistic disciplines are expressly desired. To further advance the areal profiling of the above-mentioned institute, we expect candidates to participate in interdisciplinary programs as well as to address the university's research foci. A professorship for Turkological literary studies will be established in the near future.



Besides fulfilling the general requirements for state-employability, candidates must further meet the requirements for recruitment imposed by § 49 of the Rhineland-Palatinate Higher Education Act ("Hochschulgesetz Rheinland-Pfalz").



The State of Rhineland-Palatinate and Mainz University put particular emphasis on intensive student support. We expect faculty members to reflect this in their presence at the university.
