[Lingtyp] Ethnologue goes for paid access?

I take it that means: "No, it is not true that private universities are
making their research less accessible".

That seems to be the first point of concern here. The second one being
"does other motives than research itself impact research negatively", which
I guess can be asked in regards to SIL International with respect to
religion and potentially to other research bodies with respect to other
motives. But, I don't think that's what this thread is about actually.
