Dear colleagues, please see the announcement below, re ALS 2017 – CALL FOR PAPERS

This year’s Australian Linguistic Society 2017, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the Society, welcomes submissions for oral presentations and poster presentations on any topic within the fields of general linguistics and sociolinguistics. Oral presentations are 20 min presentation + 10 min question time. Poster presentations allow authors to display and explain their A0-sized poster during a dedicated poster session.

The conference will be hosted by The University of Sydney (Camperdown) 4-7 December 2017. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Australian Linguistic Society, a reception will be hosted in the evening of the 4th December.

Authors who have not been accepted for a workshop are welcome to submit their abstract for the general sessions via Easychair before 31 July. ABSTRACT SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR ALS 2017

All abstracts (workshops, talks and posters) - are due 31 July 2017 and will be anonymously reviewed. Papers rejected for a workshop will also be considered for the main ALS program.

Preparing your abstract:

  *   Document format: Word (.doc or .docx) or pdf
  *   Page Limits: 1 page of text (including title of paper) + 1 page of references, diagrams, figures, tables, example sentences; max of 500 words.
  *   Font size: Font must be 12 point Times New Roman
  *   Margins: 2cm margins on all margins
  *   The abstract must be anonymous. It should not include author names, affiliation, or other identifying information. Be careful that your name and email are not automatically embedded by your word processor.

Once you are logged in select the ‘New submission’ tab. You will be asked to enter your author details, title, abstract and keywords in the text boxes. The system will ask you to select your preferred presentation type i.e. oral presentation or poster. We strongly encourage a poster submission if your dataset lends itself well to graphical presentation, in-depth personal discussion, or is a dataset of modest size. Posters will have a session on Day 2 of the conference. The system will also ask you to enter all author and institution information into an online form
