Readers of this list may be interested in opportunities for PhD Funding in Linguistics at the University of Manchester.
The Department of Linguistics and English Language at the University of Manchester is an international centre for Linguistics and English Language, with 19 full-time members of staff and approximately 30 Postgraduate Research students. Research within the department represents a wide range of subject areas and theoretical approaches, as well as expertise in a number of language groups including Quechuan, Misumalpan, Semitic, Polynesian, Mirndi and Pama-Nyungan languages of Australia, as well as Iranian, Romani, Germanic, and Romance. Apart from typological projects we also welcome excellent, competitive projects on the phonetics and phonology, morphology, syntax, sociolinguistic variation, semantics and pragmatics, and historical linguistics of lesser described languages. For further information please see our list of staff members and their research interests:
https://www.alc.manchester.ac.uk/linguistics-and-english-language/about/people/.
In order to be eligible for funding through any of the grant competitions below, you will have to submit an online application for a place on Manchester University’s PhD Programme in Linguistics by Monday, 14 January 2019. This will ensure that you are in receipt of an offer of a place on the programme in advance the funding application deadline. For information on how to apply please see:
http://www.alc.manchester.ac.uk/study/postgraduate-research/applying/
For informal inquiries about the academic side of your PhD in Linguistics application, please contact myself (by replying to this message, not to the list) or Dr Maciej Baranowski (maciej.baranowski at manchester.ac.uk<mailto:maciej.baranowski at manchester.ac.uk>).
