the Linguistics Department is seeking to hire a post-doctoral fellow
interested in an on-going project on the language and literacy development
of Syrian refugee children that is being conducted across Canada and in
collaboration with colleagues in Germany.  The post-doctoral fellow will
also have the opportunity of working on other lab projects and will have
access to research resources in the Linguistics Department, including
the Centre
for Comparative Psycholinguistics <http://ccp.artsrn.ualberta.ca/>.  Candidates
need not be Canadian citizens to apply. The salary for this position will
be in the range of $41,000 to $43,000 CAD/year plus supplemental health
benefits, in keeping with university post-doctoral fellowship guidelines. The
position start date is *July 1, 2018* (negotiable) and is for one year with
the possibility of renewal for a second year.  Applications will be
reviewed starting *March 15, 2018*.



*Duties:*

-Data management and analysis

-Assisting in coordination of research project

-Co-authoring manuscripts and conference presentations

-Mentoring graduate and undergraduate students

-Conducting independent studies within on-going lab projects



*Qualifications:  *

-Completed PhD (within past five years and before start date/shortly after
start date) in relevant discipline

-Research experience with child language development, reading and/or
bilingualism

-Strong statistical and analytic skills (R); knowledge of longitudinal
design and mixed regression modeling preferred

-Emerging publication record
