[Lingtyp] Job announcement: Assistant professor "General and Comparative Linguistics" University of Regensburg, Germany

Dear Typologists,
 
I would like to draw your attention to this job announcement.  The chair of
General and Comparative Linguistics at the University of Regensburg seeks to
fill a three-year full-time assistant professor position starting from June,
1st 2019. The contract can be extended for another three years. The position is
payed according to the German pay scale for public officers ('Akademischer
Rat') A13, or alternatively for scientific employees E 13 TV L. 
 
The duties comprise 5 hours per semester of teaching introductory and advanced
courses of all central areas of linguistics in the BA and MA programs "General
and Comparative Linguistics". The language of instruction is German or English,
but a good command of German is necessary. In addition, it is expected that the
successful candidate supervises BA and MA theses, provides reviews of BA and MA
theses, and acts as an advisor of our students. He/she is expected to conduct
his/her own research that leads to the 'Habilitation'. The 'Habilitation' is a
second PhD in the German academic system that is required for a professorship.

 
The candidate holds a PhD in Linguistics and has strong research background
and interest in at least two of the following areas: language typology/ general
linguistics, language documentation, descriptive linguistics, and historical
linguistics.
