CALL FOR PAPERS
2019 has been announced by the United Nations as The Year of Indigenous Languages, see en.iyil2019.org. In this context, Institute of Linguistics of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Moscow) is organizing an international conference “Linguistic Forum 2019: Indigenous languages of Russia and beyond”, to be held on April 4-6, 2019, in Moscow, Russia. The conference is organized in partnership with CIPL – Comité International Permanent des Linguistes / Permanent International Committee of Linguists (www.ciplnet.com/endangered-languages).
The conference is the first in a series of international conferences held at the Institute of Linguistics RAS under the common heading of Linguistic Forum, each of which is going to be dedicated to a particular socially important phenomenon explored by the science of language.
The goal of the conference is to provide a forum for dialog between experts working on documentation and description of Indigenous languages, on teaching, maintaining and revitalizing languages, on creation of multimedia resources on indigenous languages as well as on a range of related topics. Special theme of the conference: Indigenous languages in an urbanizing world.
We encourage presentations on key conceptual and methodological issues related to these topics. Obviously, the Indigenous languages of Russia are the central focus of the conference, but papers on other areas of the world are also welcome.
The working languages of the conference are English and Russian.
